Gumnut Beanie

Gumnuts are the flowers of the Eucalyptus tree, whose name means “well-covered” in Greek. This simple cute slouch fabric beanie pattern is a perfect solution to keep your noggin well covered when winter winds begin to blow. A brilliant stash buster and fully reversible, you can line with a contrasting fabric or fleece for those of you who live in truly cold places.

Make one for each family member… and a spare!

We suggest lighter knit fabrics for this project: something with some give and movement. A good return or elastane content is not necessary. We’ve used merino wool with no elastane, a cotton elastane, and cotton interlocks with great success. Fabrics with more bulk will affect the sizing.
